Your new role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Manufacturing Engineering Placement Student to join our team specialising in Manufacturing for Marine and Aviation Life-saving products.

During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organisation operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an experienced engineer. In this role, you will develop skills in the following:

  • Applying Lean tools (including 5S, process mapping, etc.) and methodologies to drive continuous improvements across the Manufacturing process.
  • Planning, designing, purchasing, and implementing integrated manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Contributing to different projects of varying sizes to successful conclusions.
  • Compiling and analysing data on Key Performance Indicators.
  • Work as part of a team implementing process improvements within the assembly process.
  • Participate in the design/layout of new and existing workstations to improve efficiency and accommodate new tooling and products.
  • Perform Time Studies to improve routing accuracy and drive production efficiency projects.
  • Execution of process mapping; development, improvement, and documentation of current or future processes.
  • Investigate new technologies, equipment, and supplies to help improve operations.
  • Tooling assessments and review (tool life, design, and manufacture)

The experience, qualifications and skills you will have

Qualifications and education requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Engineering or Technical discipline at an accredited University/College
  • Placement year commencing summer 2024.

To be successful in this role you will need the following

  • Efficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with AutoCAD would also be beneficial, although is not essential.
  • Adept at working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.

Other requirements

  • Ensure all safety rules and standards are adhered to.
  • Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times when required in line with company procedures.
  • Comply with the Company’s Attendance Management policy.
  • Fulfil any other duties as required for your job role.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence, would also be beneficial, although is not essential.

  • Manage multiple projects and different stages.
  • Prioritise tasks effectively.
