Graduate programme overview
You will join Anthesis as a Junior Consultant as part of our first cohort on the Anthesis ESG and Mandatory Reporting graduate programme, which has been designed to develop the next generation of talent for our industry.
The year-long programme blends classroom learning with shadowing, mentoring and on the job learning to ensure you are fully supported in your development as an ESG professional.
The training will cover technical sustainability topics, consulting skills and business management as well as covering what it means to be an Anthesian. By the end of the first year you will be able to:
- Prepare and deliver high quality reports and presentations in line with the client brief.
- Gather and analyse large and diverse qualitative and quantitative data and understand what is relevant to the project and generate insights.
- Articulate an understanding of the European sustainability and ESG landscape.
- Understand and actively contribute to the business development and sales process.
- Navigate the unique network of subject matter experts at Anthesis.
Summary of the role
Junior Consultants work as part of a project team to deliver sustainability and ESG related services to our clients to support them with meeting their regulatory needs and strategic objectives. Examples of projects include (but not limited to) double materiality assessments, ESRS gap analysis, strategy development, ESG report development, data monitoring and insights creation, due diligence assessments.
Our clients range from financial services to large corporates and everything in between and most have a predominantly European operational footprint. Junior Consultants are expected to contribute to report writing, data gathering and analysis, project management, client presentations and client communication. They demonstrate a collegiate approach to working with others, supporting their peers and sharing knowledge where appropriate to contribute to the success of the wider team.
Key responsibilities
Client & Project Delivery
- Project Management – supporting the management of consulting engagements / projects on time, on budget, and to high standards of quality.
- Research & Analysis – gathering, synthesising and analysing sometimes large and diverse inputs, both qualitative and quantitative, primary and secondary, in pursuit of project objectives.
- Client Relationship Building – earning the confidence and trust of client teams, and representing our direct clients’ interests effectively inside their organisations.
- Deliverable Drafting & Presentation – preparing and delivering high quality reports, presentations, and sometimes workshops in line with project scope.
Business Development
- Key Account Development – helping to guide and support deeper and longer-term partnerships with valuable and impactful clients over time.
- Proposal / Bid Writing & Presentation – discussing, framing, designing, pricing and presenting project proposals (with the guidance and support of colleagues).
- Thought Leadership & Marketing – supporting the team and wider business in lead generation and brand-building through the creation of IP and marketing materials.
Organisational & Personal Development
- Training & Personal Development – using the ACE (Anthesis Centre of Excellence) learning and development platform, and guided by your line manager.
- Strategic & Organisational Initiatives – contributing to important internal initiatives, proposition development and innovation.
Key requirements, skills, knowledge & expertise
Key requirements
- Undergraduate degree 2:1 or above.
- Demonstrable expertise and interest in sustainability, e.g. via volunteering placements, research, internship, masters degree.
- A demonstrable ability to critically review your own work.
- Ability to succinctly form an argument in both written and verbal communication
- A good grasp of quantitative analysis, for example using Excel.
- Ability to take critical feedback and be able to contribute positively to a team objective.
