    We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Graduate Engineer to join our innovative and well respected Active Travel team in Edinburgh.

    The Role

    Our Active Travel team understands what is required in the planning and delivery of safe, efficient, reliable and attractive active and sustainable transport services and is committed to developing healthy, active and sustainable communities.

    Working with our clients and key stakeholders we develop and implement schemes that provide better connections between people and their destinations. In the role of Graduate Engineer you will assist with the provision of a multi-disciplinary consultancy service for Sweco's active travel clients.

    You'll support development of civil infrastructure engineering, including design of cycling and walking schemes, the regeneration of urban infrastructure, feasibility studies of active travel interventions and technical design, there will also be opportunities to undertake the site supervision of construction and push boundaries with new technology.

    About You

    • A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, a Masters is preferred but isn't essential.
    • Graduate membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (GMICE) is preferred but isn't essential.
    • Ability to communicate in a fluent positive manner with other team members and to produce design documents in clear English.
    • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel as well as AutoCAD.
    • The ability to work on your own initiative and seek assistance when required as well the ability to work collaboratively with others to form strong positive working relationships with both colleagues and clients.
    • A strong understanding of civil engineering design principals (likely gained through studies).
    • A strong understanding of active travel and it's role in reducing carbon emissions.
    • Good problem solving / contingency planning skills with the ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions to civil engineering problems.
    • The ability to organise and prioritise workload to ensure that timescales are met.
