About the role
We are looking for an ambitious actuarial trainee to join our team in performing quarterly actuarial P&C reserve calculations.
You will have the opportunity to
- Work with an internally developed actuarial reserving tool (SPIRE), apply the various actuarial reserving methods to reserving portfolios and decide on the most appropriate reserves for the financial accounts,
- Estimate nominal ultimate claims and their pay-out patterns, digging deeper into portfolios as required to identify segments needing specific focus and separate monitoring,
- Support the reserving of individual non-traditional structured deals, with a focus on understanding deal-specific terms and conditions and key interactions with other deal stakeholders,
- Challenge costing accuracy, contribute to reporting and build a deep understanding of non-traditional structured reinsurance in particular,
- Interact with other functions such as Underwriting, Claims, Technical Accounting and Finance as well as with senior management and build trustful long-term relationships,
- Support legal entity and IFRS work as required,
- Support actuarial-related projects and systems development.
About the team
The London Hub EMEA Actuarial & Reserving team consists of 7 actuaries with diverse backgrounds. We value a good team and collaborative spirit. We frequently interact with a large number of stakeholders from different functions. Therefore, we value strong communication skills just as highly as strong technical expertise. Our London Hub reserving team takes responsibility for a number of key portfolios including all Global Marine and Aviation business and all EMEA non-traditional structured deals (across all lines of business). In addition, we support multiple XFT Portfolio Steering teams and provide Legal Entity and Branch reporting activities.

Essentials
- University degree in science or related subjects,
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills,
- Programming skills in R, Python or other related languages would be an advantage.
