We are keen for a current university student to join us for their placement year within our Service Desk operation. You will gain an insight and apply your education knowledge within a live environment in an IT focused company, developing your skills in an internally focused IT team.
What you'll do
- Handling incoming incidents and requests via telephone and email, including assessment, prioritisation and investigation in line with Incident Management and Request Fulfilment processes.
- Providing support for workstation, phone, server and network technologies.
- Following internal documented processes and procedures, to ensure incident and request resolution are completed to agreed Organisation Level Agreements.
- Identifying and troubleshooting Server and Network incidents and acting according to departmental processes
- Administration of internal support systems
- Collaborating with other internal IT teams to work towards the achievement of departmental objectives, and thus aligning to business objectives.
- Delivering an exceptional degree of customer service; ensuring that our customers benefit from clear communications and effective resolution.

What will you need?
- A genuine interest and enthusiasm for IT support and management of IT systems.
- Be currently working towards a relevant qualification/ degree.
- Enthusiasm for the role and your future career.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The desire to identify, analyse and troubleshoot problems.
You should ideally have some experience in the following
(As this is a placement opportunity the following are not essential, although a basic knowledge would be beneficial – these would be some of the skills you would develop within the role)
- Windows desktop and server operating systems.
- SQL Server technologies.
- Active Directory Domain Services.
- Microsoft Office and other workstation software.
- Standard networking services and protocols.
