We are looking for a highly competent, self-motivated and organised UI/UX designer to underpin and support our UX team. The successful candidate will have a pixel perfect eye for detail and strong organisational skills. Ideally the candidate will have experience working in agile teams, with developers and UX designers.

Strengths in documentation and organisation are essential. You should be conversant primarily with Adobe Xd, but a good working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Invision (and more) would also be useful. The ability to sketch, paper-prototype and create simple wireframes would be a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Upkeep and organization of the UX team’s ‘component’ library (in Adobe Xd)
  • As part of the UX team, develop and enforce the design standards of layout / iconography / and typography through documentation (Confluence and otherwise)
  • Translate sketches, wireframes and flat graphics into interactive prototypes (in Adobe Xd).
  • Learn to understand user needs, tasks, goals and translate them into clickable wireframes and prototypes
  • Develop prototypes for internal validation and demonstration of concepts to clients (ranging from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity digital mock-ups)
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the various agile development teams

Education and Experience

Whilst it is accepted that an individual’s education and experience will vary, the following is provided as guidance:

  • A degree or equivalent work experience in a related field, such as Interaction Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction
  • Experience and/or knowledge of agile/scrum development processes
  • Experience and/or knowledge of JIRA / Kanban and Confluence systems
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills – must be self-motivated
  • Ability to generate layout / iconography / and typography to a consistently high standard
  • A good eye for consistency of UX patterns and workflows across multiple devices and operating systems
  • Ability to meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to follow creative direction whilst also thinking outside the box
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects, with timelines from the immediate to the long term
  • Familiarity with the principles of user-centred design
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
