    Our Mechanical Engineers operate on a scale and precision not even imagined by many other sectors. This is an opportunity to play a crucial role in the life cycle management of our unique equipment. You will specify, design, build, install, commission and maintain a huge range of machines, ensuring that high performance is maintained and that the highest safety standards are met. Opportunities exist for short and longer term project based work including interaction with cross functional teams from inception, through commission and into the operational phase

    There are constant opportunities to work with emerging technologies, build your expertise and make a vital impact on the quality of the final product.

    The successful candidate will be joining an established 2 year graduate training program with full accreditation from major engineering institutions; IMechE / IET and IEE, and is in a position to provide a route to incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.

    The graduate program period will consist of

    • Overall Business awareness,
    • Management training (ILM),
    • Graduate Development program,
    • Networking with other graduates,
    • Site Tours.

    including a rotation within different departments/functions. Following this rotational period, you'll be supported towards a substantive position

    Experience gained will include aspects of

    • Front line supervision of shift multi-disciplinary team
    • Maintenance Engineering & Planning
    • Environmental & Energy Awareness
    • CAD (Solidworks)
    • Project Specification Development & Costing
    • Project management (CDM)
    • H&S Management (NEBOSH)
    • Continuous Improvement techniques

    Target roles include, Maintenance Engineering, Design Engineer, Manufacturing Process Development, Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Site Services & Rail, Project Management, Engineering Management.

    What you need

    You must have at least a 2:1 Degree in Mechanical Engineering (IMechE Accredited), or closely related degree. Supported with A/B grades in STEM A level results or equivalent qualifications.

    Core skills & interests are to include

    • Engineering Mathematics & Statistics
    • Mechanics
    • Materials Science / FEA
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Thermo-fluid Dynamics

    It is an advantage, but not essential, for those candidates who can show

    • An “Industrial” final year project with skills in project management.
    • Some working experience, preferably in a technical environment (as part of an industrial placement / apprenticeship).

    Driven, passionate and tenacious, your strong sense of personal accountability is bolstered by your eye for the bigger picture. Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire trust and build engagement are also essential.
