    We're looking for a talented Designer with experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Working closely with a Senior Designer and Art Director, your role will be to support and deliver work beyond expectations for our day-to-day and high-profile journalism. You will work as part of a team supporting one or more areas of the teams daily, weekly and long-term output.

    You are independent and autonomous and demonstrate an exceptional eye for detail. The successful candidate will be passionate about design and eager to work with wider teams in realising all design ideas through to delivery.

    Communication is important so you will be comfortable presenting, and able to confidently justify your design decisions. You will be expected to implement the creative vision across a broad range of projects ranging from digital, print, social and video

    Key Responsibilities

    • Share your ideas and creative thinking within the team
    • Turn concepts into high-fidelity and accessible designs for digital and print
    • Be comfortable juggling a few projects at once and hitting daily/weekly deadlines
    • Liaise with editors and producers to deliver creative requirements
    • Creating short visual stories, in an innovative and highly creative manner
    • Working to fast-paced deadlines on an edition-based product
    • Collaborating with Graphic Artists, Video Editors, Editors, Developers and Journalists to brainstorm and storyboard short stories for the day’s’ topics
    • Working closely with other designers to bring stories to life in a highly visual way
    • Work with Senior Designers to develop leading industry approach across platforms
    • Good communication across departments is key

    Essential Skills

    • Know your way around the full Adobe suite (Indesign, Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects)
    • Art school/University background (BA or Master level)
    • Have an outstanding portfolio of projects you've worked on, either individually and as part of a team
    • An excellent understanding of typography, colours, usability and accessibility
    • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Be confident at communicating your ideas
    • Have an open-minded and receptive approach to innovating and iterating your designs

    • Have an understanding of animation and moving image
    • Be interested in current affairs and have a passion for telling stories
    • Be energetic, have an appetite for experimentation and a good sense of fun
