    Product is one of the most exciting and innovative areas of Tesco with various teams in Food (Fresh & Packaged), Procurement, Supply Chain, General Merchandise, F&F and Quality each having the potential to positively affect the lives of millions of Tesco customers every week. Our Product programme provides the opportunity for you to specialise in either our Food Buying (Fresh and Packaged) or Supply Chain areas.

    During your 2-year programme you’ll first start off by spending 12 weeks in store getting to understand how our stores operate and how we serve our customers and communities. After this you’ll be able to use the knowledge and experience you’ve gained to get stuck into your chosen area in either Food Buying or Supply Chain following a clear development pathway to build your capability and provide experiences across the functions.

    Our Food Buying teams, source and buy great quality products, giving our customers the best offer, range and prices. As a graduate, you’ll be working in the buying teams to manage the relationships with a dynamic supply base and work closely with various colleagues across different functions, both in the UK and globally, to design, source, negotiate, set up and launch exciting new product ranges.

    Our Supply Chain team is a global operation responsible for getting hundreds of millions of products from farms and factories to our millions of customers every day. As a graduate, you’ll be based within teams of change managers, analysts and operators, so you could be analysing products pricing to minimise food waste, improving the range of products in each store as well as engaging with suppliers to drive benefits throughout the supply chain.

    Whichever function you follow, by the end of your programme you will have gained all the necessary skills and knowledge you need to set you up for success, but your journey doesn’t stop there, as this programme gives a great foundation to accelerate your career to become a senior leader in our business.

    Who we are looking for

    We’re looking for grads with a passion for products and a love for food. It’s not essential that you have any previous experience but it definitely helps if you have a commercial mind, are comfortable with data and curious of market trends and changes.

    Working at our Welwyn Garden City campus

    Our leafy, green campus is 10 minutes' walk from the centre of Welwyn Garden City with its many shops, restaurants, pubs and sports facilities. Close to the A1, and with frequent trains running to Finsbury Park in just 20 minutes (free shuttle buses take you between the station and office), the campus is well connected to the surrounding area.

    On campus, you'll find subsidised restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a Tesco Express to pick up your lunch or last-minute essentials. We also have our Heart Building, a place where colleagues can connect and come together, to unlock innovation and collaboration and a place where they can network and socialise. Plus we have an on-site Nuffield Health gym, which has state-of-the-art equipment, studios for classes, plus treatment rooms (membership costs £23.50 per month).

    You’ll gain a breadth of product experience and skills as you complete a number of placements in different parts of either our food buying or supply chain areas.
