This exciting opportunity sits within our Environmental Protection Team, who are responsible for delivery of the Surface Water Outfall Programme and investigation of polluted surface water outfalls suffering from widespread urban diffuse sources, mostly third-party misconnections.
Environmental Protection Advisors are an essential role in the delivery of SWOP, which is in partnership with the Environment Agency and forms part of the PIRP.
- Base location: North London - Primary sites: Beckton (IG11 0AD), Deephams (N9 0BA) and Maple Lodge (WD3 9SQ)
- 36 Hours Per Week (Mon-Fri)
- Full UK Driving License required due to travel across our North London sites, with occasional travel to other locations if required.
What you’ll be doing
- Co-ordination of assigned SWOP projects, assisting with outfall safari training and follow-up assessments
- Encouraging rectification of misconnections
- Highlighting cases for Local Authorities escalation
- Working with regional network teams for PSWOs and sewer defect resolution
- Engaging with EA on project sign-off and other queries
- Contractor field auditing for H&S and performance
- Providing pollution mitigation advice in the role of Environmental Scientist and assisting in other environmental matters
- Full ownership of the assigned EPT patch
About you
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of environmental sustainability and actively considers the impact of decisions on the environment
- Competent at using IT systems, such as GIS and O365 software
- Relevant hands-on environmental experience in a field-based environment
- Excellent organisation, communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of drainage and sewerage systems is highly desirable
- Ability to plan and manage own workload with little supervision
- Project coordination skills or experience are highly desirable
- A degree in Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field is desirable, but not essential
