    The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for supporting our cross functional Chemistry Lab team at Wade Road, Basingstoke. Working Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:00 and Friday 08:00-14:30. Your main focus will be to support the teams working in the Chemistry Laboratory with day-to-day maintenance tasks. Once fully trained you will have the opportunity to get more involved with our customer-facing projects and learn antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and our analytical chemistry techniques that support the AST discs product range.

    Key responsibilities

    • Maintaining the laboratory to a high level of safety, efficiency, cleanliness and housekeeping.
    • Ensuring the laboratory is adequately stocked to support the lab teams.
    • Assisting the laboratory team to maintain equipment such as HPLCs.
    • Ensuring that the laboratory is constantly improving its processes using PPI and JDIs.
    • Assisting with regular audits of the laboratory space to ensure standards are met.
    • Support the AST technical team for customer facing contracts to ensure that timelines are met with routine experiment setup.

    Keys to success

    Education

    • Preferred bachelors degree in Chemistry or equivalent related degree.
    • Willing to work alongside your education if you are working towards a scientific related degree.

    Knowledge, skills, abilities

    • A desire to learn and develop your laboratory skills and experience.
    • Not afraid to ask questions and communicate openly.
    • Enjoys problem solving, troubleshooting and passionate about suggesting improvements to processes.
    • Driven and capable of working independently as part of a cross functional laboratory team.
    • Attention to detail, ensuring things are done right first time.
