Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.
The Role
We have an opportunity for a Structural Engineer Intern for our Forensic Practice in our Warrington office to join this summer. The candidate will have interests in civil and structural forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, structural repair, and retrofit design. The investigations include failure cause and origin analysis, life cycle cost and feasibility analyses, risk assessment, insurance and claims response, and supporting expert witness and litigation. All necessary training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with on-site inspections and investigations including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, and sketching.
- Organising field data to facilitate analysis and problem-solving.
- Assist engineering team in preparing technical and investigative reports to support forensics findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in civil and structural engineering, or related field.
- Excellent academic record.
- Students should be familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Suite programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and CAD programs (i.e. AutoCAD). Familiarity with any of the following programs is a plus, but is not essential: Revit, Bluebeam, and SAP2000.
