    About The Role

    Have you got a degree in Quantity Surveying and looking to start your career in this field? We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our Central Region, and based at our office in Solihull, on a permanent basis.

    The purpose of the role will be to support – and be an integral part of - the commercial team, helping the business to manage costs in line with forecasts and deliver accurate commercial reporting on our projects.

    Our aim is for you to gain a real breadth and depth of experience and take on early and increasing responsibility which would see the role evolving over time from “assisting” the senior team to “undertaking and leading” your own projects.

    You will gain experience in all aspects of quantity surveying learning from not only experienced Quantity Surveyors, but also from other professionals including our buyers, construction and technical managers.

    You will assist senior colleagues in the Commercial Department, as directed, with:

    • Preparing cost to complete documentation in line with the commercial timetable, and ensuring financial accuracy when predicting profitability for each scheme
    • Producing accurate monthly accruals
    • Assessing exactitude of subcontract valuations/ applications for payment, forwarding approved documentation onto the relevant departments
    • Applying risk, value management and cost control mechanisms
    • Undertaking cost analysis comparisons for sub-contracts from tender enquiry to analysis and contract placement
    • Professionally managing subcontracts from first valuation through to final account
    • Ensuring predicted profitability is upheld through the lifecycle of the development
    • Accurately forecasting quarterly cash flow of Roads & Sewers spend

    About You

    • Holds or studying quantity surveying or transferrable degree at a 2.1 level or above
    • Desire and willingness to learn on the job
    • Self-motivated, resilient, diligent, ambitious, creative and problem-solving skills
    • Show initiative and possess a “can do” attitude with a “problem identification - solution proposal” approach
    • Team player, but able to work alone as required
    • Possess strong commercial acumen to achieve business results
    • Good understanding of Microsoft office suite – outlook, excel and word
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Full UK driving licence
