The Role
Vacancies exist within the Road & Rail Traffic Control Systems, Control & Information (C&I) team for engineers with an interest in signal control, automated control or process control. Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and an aptitude for logical thinking are key attributes for the positions. You will report to one of the Senior Engineering Leaders and work closely with other engineers within the team in a variety of roles.
The C&I team provide two key services: maintenance support to the existing control systems across TfL and the development of new control systems whether that be supporting externally contracted solutions or in-house team control systems design & development.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- An understanding of signal control, automated control or process control in an engineering environment
- A good understanding of electrical principles
- Principles of IP telecommunication networks
- Practical hand on experience of engineering solutions, factory or site, in a rail, communications, electrical or software type environment.
- Ability to communicate engineering concepts to non-expert audiences at all levels of the business
- Ability to effectively engage with and influence stakeholders
- Ability to identify and evaluate options, including cost and timescale implications
- Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team but also to work independently where appropriate
- Degree in Electronics or Telecommunications or similar subjects with an aptitude for practical & innovative engineering solutions or equivalent relevant experience
