Travelodge is looking for a Content Executive to join its Digital Team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone wishing to further their career in copywriting and content production/management.
About the role
You will be responsible for writing quality online content that increases visits and revenue to our website via blog, email marketing and push messaging and for updates to the website and country sites.
The successful individual will have had experience in writing for the web, good working knowledge or understanding of SEO and possess excellent spelling and grammar skills. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to accurately research facts about locations and attractions across the UK and formulate your own writing process that drives efficient, accurate and timely content creation.
Being part of our Digital Marketing team means you’ll also be supporting the other members of the marketing team to achieve website presentation and revenue driving objectives in line with the overall marketing plan. You’ll manage website and hotel page updates via the content management system, across both desktop and mobile, plus support the presentation of information on the website to customers.
What you’ll be doing
The role will be split between content writing and content management.
Content writing
- Conduct high-quality research of locations and points of interest across the UK
- Write engaging, quality content that is accurate and free from spelling and grammar mistakes
- Proofreading of content to ensure high standards are maintained.
- Support with the creation of internal processes that drive efficiency
- Uploading and publishing of content using both the Wordpress and Drupal CMS
Content management
- Supporting with merchandising for tactical promotions on-site
- Support the eCRM team planning and implementing email marketing activity, including Travel More series
- Managing the Digital email inbox to support requests for website updates
- Maintaining excellent digital presence on external sites, such as TripAdvisor and Google Business listings
- Completing ad-hoc admin such as team file management and tasks associated to digital campaigns
- Assisting in the delivery of onsite assets and promotion via the content management system, liaising with agency teams where required
- Providing ad-hoc project support to the wider Digital team
- Working with members of the Digital team and other departments on content requirements.
- Supporting with new hotel set up and managing the hotel refit program

In addition you’ll need to demonstrate
- Demonstrated experience of writing clear and concise for the web in a Copywriter/Editor role
- Excellent spelling, editing and proofreading skills
- Focus and ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
- Eagle eye for detail
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Understanding of SEO (desirable)
- Understanding of email marketing (desirable)
- Strong research skills
- Team player with a flexible and adaptable attitude
- Experience of content management systems
- A can-do approach, willing to get involved and focused on delivery.
- Excellent project management and communication skills
- Understanding of HTML and image management (experience of Photoshop desirable)
What will set you apart
- Degree in English or Marketing or equivalent
- Past experience in a role focused on writing for the web ideally in an ecommerce business
- Solid understanding of online marketing, preferably in a past or current role
