Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is an important role within the Finance function that will ensure the accuracy, completeness and timely completion of accounting activities across the Trayport Group. You will work across the business to gather and deliver insight, work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and support the day-to-day operations of the Finance function, whilst contributing to continuous improvement within the team.

What will you be doing

  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial data feeding into the financial reporting of our UK, German, Austrian and Singapore entities;
  • Be a key contributor to the Finance function month-end close and financial reporting procedures.
  • Analyse monthly expenditure to deliver key insights to the Financial Planning & Strategic Insights team.
  • Support the Tax & Treasury function, including recording of bank transactions and performing monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist the Tax & Treasury Manager with VAT calculations and other tax-related responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with TMX Group colleagues to monitor and report on intercompany transactions and ensure intercompany balances are reconciled at month-end.
  • Post journals and conduct balance sheet reconciliations across key asset and liability ledger accounts, including fixed assets, accruals and prepayments.
  • Review expenditure to ensure cut-off procedures are adhered to and to ensure the timely and accurate posting of accrual journal entries.
  • Prepare and submit ONS business surveys and fulfill other reporting obligations.
  • Contribute to, or depending on experience manage, the preparation of annual Financial Statements for Trayport subsidiary entities.
  • Support the Finance function during internal and external audits by providing the necessary documentation, insights, and responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Maintain robust accounting controls by adhering to established policies and procedures and complying with all financial legal requirements.

The person

  • Chartered Accountancy Pathway: Actively progressing towards a recognized chartered accountancy qualification, demonstrating a strong and proactive commitment to developing a successful career within the finance profession. This ongoing pursuit ensures a foundation in accounting principles and a drive for continuous learning.
  • IFRS and UK Statutory Reporting Exposure: Possesses a developing understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the principles of UK statutory reporting, including familiarity with FRS 101 and FRS 102. This exposure is crucial for accurate financial statement preparation and compliance.
  • Meticulous Detail Orientation and Contextual Analysis: Exhibits a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, coupled with the ability to understand the broader business context and interpret how financial figures relate to operational performance and strategic objectives.
  • Exceptional Organisational and Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrates strong organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines. Possesses a proactive and analytical mindset to identify, assess, and effectively resolve financial issues.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Proficiency: Highly competent in utilizing Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling, including the use of formulas and functions.
  • Collaborative and Communicative Team Player: Possesses a collaborative work style, fostering positive relationships with colleagues across different teams. Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills to clearly and effectively convey financial information and insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
