Are you passionate about the application of research to make a real difference in real-world situations?  Are you seeking an opportunity to leverage your academic experience to benefit those around you? Are you fascinated by the continually evolving landscape and boundless potential for transport in the 21st century?  Then consider a career with TRL.

Working alongside our team of pioneers, innovators and domain experts, we’re looking to recruit like-minded career focused graduates from across the Engineering, Forensics and "data driven" disciplines.  On offer is the opportunity to become involved in Transport Projects and Research through the lens of Environment and Sustainability, Automation in transport, Digitisation of transport, Transport safety, New Mobility or Transport for sustainable development.

We currently have openings for recent graduates to join our Emerging Talent Programme that commences January 2022 as part of our Assets, Technologies or Safety teams, and  within the Smart Mobility Living Lab. Whether you’re from a Civils, Mechanical Electronics/Software, Forensic Science or other technology background, or have a flair for applying programming skills to analyse huge test datasets - we want to hear from you.

About The Emerging Talent Programme

The programme lasts 2 years and is designed as a launchpad for your career at TRL. From the outset, new graduates will be encouraged to work on a range of projects across our different specialisms.  This will give you some breadth of understanding of our service offering and the opportunity to learn from different TRL experts. Each graduate will also be included in one or more reinvestment project teams.

Development will be through a blended approach – combining “on the job” experience within the delivery teams complemented by a programme of social and structured learning.  This will be supported through an external training provider and will include modules to develop and further enhance competencies that you’ll turn to throughout your commercial career: Leading & managing; Collaborating & teamworking; Customer focus & commercial astuteness; Self-management; Communicating and influencing; Innovation & Intrapreneurship

Working practices are a mixture of onsite and working from home, and new joiners are encouraged to locate themselves within a reasonable commute of our main offices in Crowthorne, Berkshire – to fully benefit from support and mentoring from the teams.

Application

We're keen to hear from Graduates and Postgraduates with a real interest in becoming part of the future of transport - and a belief in the societal benefits provided by safe, clean, affordable, liveable and efficient transport solutions. For those with a leaning towards Research and Consultancy we’ll be looking for accomplished report writing skills as part of the interview process. For those who are interested in being more "hands on" – we’ll be looking for evidence of practical skills that can be applied to test and investigation as part of our Services teams.
