We have a new opportunity for a Junior Project Manager with an understanding of project management methodology and processes, to support technical research and consultancy projects across the Transport domain. The projects delivered by TRL range in size and complexity from multi-million turn-key implementations to week long research activity.

We encourage applications from individuals with some knowledge of Project Management / Project Administration who are keen to develop a career in this area. Where appropriate, the successful candidate will be offered support and formal training through a level 4 Apprenticeship in Project Management.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage project teams to ensure projects are delivered to cost and timeframe, whilst promoting effective teamwork among project team members
  • Maintain risk registers, issues logs, lessons log and ensuring the project plan and schedules are kept up to date
  • Act as an assistant on some large projects
  • Take on the project management of smaller projects where required
  • Ensure all projects are managed to cost, time and quality
  • Act as the support to the Project Manager with client interaction
  • Manage change appropriately within projects to reduce impacts on time and costs, and manage client expectations in line with the contract
  • Participate in contract negotiations
  • Maintain all project data in the Project management information system

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a project administration role.
  • An excellent communicator, both verbally and through written work
  • A demonstrable understanding and experience in the principles of Project Management
  • The Junior Project Manager must be able to quickly understand the defined scope of a project and act accordingly or suggest an approach

Desirable

  • PRINCE 2 or equivalent qualification would be advantageous
