We are looking for Data Acquisition Engineers who are excited by data accuracy and innovation. You'll be someone who enjoys being part of a focussed team, who is adaptable, solutions oriented, and looking for a new challenge.
As part of a team sourcing the data that populates TXODDS products for our clients, The Data Acquisition Engineer works closely with the Client Services Team in the UK and Europe, as well as the wider team globally to deliver the fast and accurate data that the business prides itself on.
We provide a 24 hour service, so as part of this role you will be required to participate in a support rota covering weekends and out-of-business hours.
What youll do
- Build and Maintain Data Acquisition Software
- Develop, test, run and monitor software that consumes data efficiently from approved sources.
- Ensure proper documentation is written and up to date.
- Adopt and follow a good pace of software refactoring ensuring fast delivery of accurate data.
Data Quality & Validation
- Use internal tools to evaluate and validate all data acquired.
- Ensure all data shipped to our customers meets our quality standards.
Customer Support
- Quickly address customer issues following escalation from the Client Services Team
Continuous Learning
Keep learning and improving, sharing the acquired knowledge with the wider TXODDS group.
Key Communications and Relationship Building
- Maintain good relationships with wider Data Acquisition Team.
- Maintain clear and open path of communication with Client Services Team.
What we expect
- Coding proficiency in either Python, Java, Scala or any other high level language.
- Some evening and weekend work required in line with the sports calendar.
- A Bachelors degree in Computer Science from an accredited University.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing and alternating priorities and constant focus on delivery.
- Logical and structured approach to problem-solving in both near-term (tactical) and mid-to-long term (strategic) horizons.
- Proactive, open-minded and keen to learn
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience working with Linux use for service hosting and day-to-day use.
- Experience working with various data SQL and NoSQL stores.
- Exposure to the sports data information or betting systems domain is a bonus.
- Exposure to financial, trading, and risk management systems is an advantage.
