Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Graduate Procurement Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering procurement support across the organisation, providing advice, guidance and completion of projects and tenders for the growing R&D portfolio within UKAEA. You will provide support and guidance to the organisation, supporting the Department in delivering a first class procurement service.
This role aids the procurement department in ensuring UKAEA is compliant UK public sector procurement such as PCR 2015, and supporting the organisation in achievement of its own milestones and impacting the achievement of targets and milestones given to UKAEA by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
UKAEA’s two-year graduate scheme is split by 80% of your time developing both your general work-related skills and professional qualifications and 20% of your working time dedicated to graduate training and development. Within the 20% training and development, there is a core suite of activities designed to develop your professional and business skills. Elements of this programme are flexible and can be tailored to your personal development needs and to those of your specific job role.
Additional responsibilities
- To assist customers in recognising and accurately specifying their contractual requirements.
- Develop and agree appropriate contractual strategies that are proportionate to the value and risk of the requirement.
- To provide commercial guidance to Project Managers throughout the lifecycle of a contract from tender through to closure.
- To evaluate bids both competitive and non-competitive ensuring that value for money is obtained at all times.
- To negotiate with the relevant parties including external companies to arrive at appropriate commercial agreements.
Qualifications
Essential requirements
- Degree qualification (Business related desirable, but not essential)
- Competent in using MS Office
To be considered you will need to have successfully completed your degree within the past 2 years at a UK university, and will possess a relevant degree from within the specialisms listed.
You will need to be self motivated, demonstrate the ability to work well with others, and have an interest in the development of a cleaner energy. Additionally, you will be passionate about self-development and you should have a proactive approach to your work with an enthusiasm to achieving your full potential.
