The job holder will be a member Nutrition & Ice Cream (N&I) Science & Technology team based at Colworth Science Park.
The team is concerned with the formulation and manufacturing of food product microstructures, the development and scale up of new processing technologies and understanding ingredients and their interactions to yield differentiated superior quality products.
The role will involve conducting pilot plant and/or laboratory experimental programmes within one or more of the N&I Science & Technology strategic themes.
Responsibilities
- Evaluation of laboratory and pilot scale processes for the production of food materials
- Evaluation of sustainable recipes and manufacturing processes
- Build understanding of processmicrostructureproperty relationships
- Liaising with multidisciplinary team to deliver agreed work plans and develop novel formulationprocessing solutions
- Provision of recommendations to key stakeholders based on findings
- Develop internal and external networks and build awareness of stateoftheart knowledge within relevant fields
About you
Key requirements & experience
- A graduate or equivalent in chemical engineering, food engineering or food science. A physical sciences degree with relevant experience may also be considered.
- Experience in developing novel technologies for food household and personal care products is desirable but not essential
- Excellent experimental analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong team alignment to deliver to diverse customer project requirements and timelines
- A selfstarter bias for action and with strong passion to drive innovation from concept to completion
- Excellent communication technical writing and influencing skills
- Flexibility a willingness to step into new areas as needed and the ability to learn quickly on the job

Location
Colworth Science Park is a vibrant scientific community with around 500 Unilever employees from 33 nationalities, with 88 PhDs, 8 Professors, and 40 apprentices. On site there are various facilities including a restaurant, gym, and a nursery.
