Uniper is investing €8bn to ensure security of energy supply whilst delivering on ambitious decarbonisation goals. As part of the Valuation Team within our Finance function you will support the investment appraisal process and help Uniper decide where and when it should make those investments to best meet its strategic objectives.

Your responsibilities

The Valuation team is responsible for the appraisal process for major investments into UK energy assets.

The successful candidate will undertake the typical tasks as outlined below:

  • Support the team in building the business case for investment decision, challenging the underlying assumptions through stakeholder engagement and developing financial models
  • Reviewing the key value drivers that drive the profitability of projects in energy markets
  • You will undertake scenario analysis and help identify the impact of risks and opportunities on valuation metrics
  • You will support, organise and prepare presentations of financial modelling results to internal stakeholders
  • We would also like you to help us develop standardisation of modelling tools and implement recommendations on best practice
  • You will gain invaluable experience by modelling several investment cases, attending stakeholder meetings and presenting the results
  • Please note that we will provide training and support on achieving the above tasks.

Your profile

Essential

  • Current students who are required to undertake a year in industry as part of their degree programme
  • This placement will suit students studying either Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering and Management or other relevant degree as the placement can be tailored to suit
  • The role will allow hybrid working and can be a combination of home working and working in the Birmingham office along with the occasional trip to our Head Office in Dusseldorf.
  • The role is offered on a fixed term contract basis
  • Problem solving skills and open-minded with a positive attitude

Desirable

  • Some knowledge of the energy industry would be desirable but is not essential
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint)
