We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join us on a 12 week internship placement to undertake the role of Programme Support Intern within Southampton City Council’s Future Transport Zone team (FTZ).
This is an exciting opportunity to join a brilliant team working on a ground-breaking programme that will influence future national transport policy.
Job Description
The Solent FTZ is a £28.75m programme awarded by the Department for Transport (DfT), which is delivering a range of innovative test and trial projects across the Solent area. These include projects such as: a new smartphone app called Breeze which allows you to plan and pay for sustainable journeys; e-scooter trials; a bike and e-bike hire scheme; new approaches to freight, logistics and parcel deliveries, and trialling use of drones for NHS medical deliveries across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.
You will be part of the FTZ delivery team, supporting the delivery of the programme’s projects and activities. In particular you will be able to develop skills in business administration, marketing and communications and project management.
You will be flexible and willing to learn, able to get stuck in with a range of tasks. You will have good team work skills.
You will have have English and Maths GCSEs grade A-C / grade 9 - 4, and be IT literate, with some experience of using Office 365 applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Teams. We value a good work ethic, a keen attitude and willingness to learn above all.
This role offers flexible working: a combination of home working and working from the office. It is essential for you to be able to attend the office on Tuesdays. You need to be a student in Southampton or from Southampton and studying at University elsewhere to qualify to apply for this opportunity.
