    Job Accountabilities

    As a graduate hydraulic engineer, you'll enrol on a three-year graduate programme with the opportunity to undertake placements in different areas of engineering, the direction of which you can choose with guidance from your line manager and mentor.

    As part of the programme, you'll register on a relevant training scheme and will be supported with your development towards an approved professional qualification with a relevant governing body.

    Throughout the graduate scheme you'll:

    • Develop your technical knowledge of water and wastewater networks and treatment works design & operation.
    • Work on a range of projects which will include the design and analysis of hydraulic systems such as pumped and gravity pipelines, combined sewer overflows, river intakes and discharges, process treatment units, flow measurement devices and open channel arrangements.
    • Develop an awareness of river flood risk studies and gain an overview of geomorphology.
    • Develop your experience and expertise in data gathering and analysis required for the engineering design, as well as your knowledge of health and safety techniques and the regulatory environment - both of which are really important to us.
    • Gain a working knowledge of other disciplines such as civil, process, mechanical, electrical, construction and network modelling, as well as developing close working relationships with project engineering managers and the project delivery teams.

    We require our hydraulic engineering graduates to have an accredited Bachelor's degree (minimum 2:1) in a relevant subject (i.e. Civil, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering).

    You will need to be:

    • Technically competent with good planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
    • Strong at written and interpersonal skills
    • An excellent team player
    • An excellent communicator at all levels. We want you to be able to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences and have the ability to write clear, concise, accurate engineering design specifications with measurable output

    Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an assessment centre which are taking place week commencing 11th December.
