No two days are ever the same. It's a mix of office based and site work, and we cover the whole of the North West region from Crewe to Carlisle.
You will typically represent Process in a multi-disciplinary team. Other engineering disciplines include civil, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, modelling, geotechnical and asset supportability.
Job accountabilities
At United Utilities our three year Accredited Company Training Schemes (ACTS) is accredited through both IChemE and CIWEM. During your graduate programme you will:
- Develop your process engineering knowledge and design skills in water, wastewater and bio-resource treatment. Become familiar with the operations structure of United Utilities and how it interacts with engineering. You'll develop an ability to troubleshoot operational issues, identify opportunities to optimise processes and provide engineering support to the operations team.
- Develop skills to run pilot plants and operational trials, understanding the data and information generated in the trial and make recommendations on next steps as well as developing your understanding and knowledge of process safety analysis techniques such as; hazard and operability study (HAZOP) and hazard communication (HazCom).
- Gain a working knowledge of the regulatory environment driving business and operational decision through first-hand experience and training.
- Be provided with a tailored experience to progress towards chartership, we aim to have our graduates ready to apply for chartership by the end of their fourth year with the company.
Knowledge and skills
- Candidates will have a minimum 2:1 accredited MEng in Chemical Engineering or minimum 2:1 accredited MSc/MEng in Water and Wastewater Engineering supported by first degree in Engineering or a relevant science.
- Clear, simple and unambiguous writing style
- Excellent communication skills with a flexible style to meet the needs of technical and non-technical audiences.
- An excellent team player, working affectively alongside colleagues and other engineering disciplines as well as other stakeholders in the business is crucial.
