About the role
In our Technical Services Team working under Water Treatment Directorate, you'll have the chance to work alongside a dedicated scientific team, who have a great track record in delivering performance governance and new ways of working for drinking water from source to tap.
United Utilities Produces approximately 2000 million litres of water a day to customer taps across the North West of England to a very high standard.
You will be working on our Water Quality First Program providing our customers with industry leading water quality.
Working with Operational Scientists colleagues, you will support the delivery of Innovation exploiting science and data to solve challenges; supporting the use of digital technology to enhance data visibility and analytics. Our commitment to Defining and Delivering Standards will include you in understanding emerging contaminants, applying knowledge from our work with operational colleagues and regulator, Quality Assurance Compliance and focus on Water Quality Technical Delivery.
Who you are
We're looking for an enthusiastic undergraduate to lead the way and help us meet the challenges of the future.
You'll receive a structured 12 month placement programme which will cover a variety of areas supported by the Technical Services Team, including working alongside Innovation and Operational Treatment Team, with stakeholders in regulatory, network and customer work streams.
Don't worry, you won't be going it alone. Mentors and managers will work with you as you progress through your placement and support you as you work towards your personal development goals.
You will be aiming for a minimum 2:2 in a Scientific or Engineering discipline (or equivalent) Degree and a student in your penultimate year.
- You must be motivated and enthusiastic, an excellent team player, possessing ambition and drive. You should also have a keen eye for detail and problem solving ability.
- You should possess good written, numerical and interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate and influence across all levels.
- You should be able to be comfortable working flexibly (independently or as part of a team) across a range of tasks and activities to deadlines, be able to prioritise your time and be proficient with Microsoft office.

When you join our Intern Scheme you'll receive a good salary, and you'll also be eligible for a bonus of up to 7.5%.
You get 26 days holiday to take during your placement, and at our fantastic Lingley Mere site we have an onsite gym, coffee shops and other great facilities.
