The A Side: A Day in The Life
To support in the creation, delivery and management of outstanding and innovative marketing campaigns and strategies for UK and international releases. The Polydor roster includes artists such as: Lana Del Rey, HAIM, Years & Years, Ellie Goulding, Elbow, Michael Kiwanuka, The Rolling Stones, Mabel, Mura Masa + more.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be creative
- Instigate photo sessions, select photographers, draft contract, attend photo shoots and distribute contact sheets to team for discussion and approval
- Oversee pitching, production and delivery of all commercials, EPKs and promotions assets
- Offer strong, cohesive briefs to creative agencies and then select the best treatment to meet the needs of the marketing campaign
- Select sleeve designer / direct sleeve designer and obtain approval of both Artist Management and the Head of Marketing (and International colleagues where appropriate)
- Work with the Head of Marketing and media buying agency in managing every aspect of each campaign media strategy and schedule
- Attend concerts / keep abreast of the live music scene including agents and promoters
Be operational
- Managing external teams around various artists/projects
- Liaison with the International Division on relevant domestic acts and artist for master, tool and campaign delivery
- Regular liaison with artists and their management to discuss any relevant marketing issues
- Day-to-day liaison with Central Production Team on domestic and international product
- Oversee all market research activity, on- and off-line, liaising closely with the Universal Music Market Research division
- Write and publish weekly marketing updates
- Manage relevant artist showcases and events. And artist participation at divisional and group retail conferences
- Coordinate retail-marketing strategy across retail and e-tail sectors with sales team
- Liaison with the A&R Manager and producers of domestic roster acts with regards to master delivery, mixes, samplers, label copy, music samples and technical issues relevant to the initiation and marketing of a product
Be financial
- Operate within agreed budgetary controls for initiation of records and marketing plans, operating the computerised budget control system and keeping accurate records of expenditure and planned expenditure
- Have complete awareness of marketing cost-per-unit and the commercial context of any given album or project
Be digital
- Manage the digitalization of visual marketing and advertising assets as company technology allows
- Work with the Digital team to devise integrated online campaigns and manage artist websites
- Embrace new technologies and their benefits – commercial and creative – for the growth of the unit and the business
Be administrative
With the Marketing Assistant, oversee the delivery of all broadcast copy to relevant contractors and agents, and co-ordinate all retailer tagging with the sales team
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience of working within Marketing with experience of co-managing artist’s campaigns
- Knowledge of charts, trends and artists
- Proven capability to work autonomously, demonstrating the ability to make decisions
- Drive and ability to push projects through to completion
- Experience of managing budgets
- Experience of contributing to innovative, creative and commercially successful marketing strategies
- Excellent relationship-building and relationship-management skills and the ability to deal with difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- Capacity to represent the company across inter-disciplinary groups.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Experience assisting photo shoots, including managing budgets, briefs and contracts
- Experience of working with external creative and media buying agencies
- An interest and proven understanding of digital marketing
Desirable
- Excellent contacts with photographers, creative agencies
- Experience assisting with TV advertising campaigns
- Experience of creating and delivering digital campaigns
