    An exciting opportunity has arisen created to join the HR Team at the University in the post of HR Adviser (Graduate Trainee) to cover a period of maternity leave.

    Successful candidates will join a team of HR Partners and Advisers working to support the staff of our Professional Services and Academic areas. These roles are part of the Human Resources section within the Directorate of People which is part of the University’s Professional Services.

    In an appointment as Graduate Trainee, trainees will normally be expected to undertake a period of up to two years on-the-job training before they will be considered for appointment or promotion to a career grade position within the University (Grade 5). During the training period incremental progression would apply on the anniversary of the individual’s appointment.

    Successful candidates will have a specific responsibility for assisting the HR Partner(s), Operations/Partnership, in providing an appropriate level of support to a specified area of the University on the full range of operational HR activities. For HR Adviser (Graduate Trainee) appointment will be at Grade 4, spinal point 20 (£27,396 per annum).

    Graduate Trainees will normally be expected to undertake a period of up to two years on-the-job training before they will be considered for appointment or promotion to a career grade position within the University. This appointment is for a period of 9 months to cover a period of maternity leave and therefore the appointed candidate will be undertaking training for the full duration of this role.

    Should the appointment continue beyond the 9 month period, incremental progression will apply on the anniversary of the individual’s appointment. On satisfactory completion of the training period there will be an assessment of performance and a review of any further training or development activities undertaken during the training period.

    Subject to a satisfactory outcome of this review the Graduate Trainee will be eligible for consideration for promotion or appointment to a career grade position within the University. The career grade for the HR Adviser position is Grade 5.
