We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic person to assist with our studies of marine top predator ecology in the Moray Firth, NE Scotland. This position is ideal for a recent graduate who would like to develop and broaden their research experience.
The role
You will gain valuable experience assisting with data entry, image processing and equipment preparation for our long-term individual based and passive acoustic monitoring studies. Most of your work will involve computer-based support tasks, especially measuring animal photogrammetry images.
However, there will also be scope to assist in other aspects of our research and for you to become familiar with some of the techniques and equipment used in marine ecological research. We are looking for a motivated individual with experience of computer-based image handling and ecological fieldwork. Patience, a keen eye for detail and good communication skills with the public and other researchers are essential.
You will be based at the University of Aberdeen’s Lighthouse Field Station in Cromarty (www.abdn.ac.uk/lighthouse).
Informal enquiries should be made to Dr Barbara Cheney, Advanced Research Fellow, e-mail: b.cheney@abdn.ac.uk
