Applications are invited for a 12-month Research Associate position on a project exploring methods for the estimation of shadow prices in contexts such as environmental or heritage assets. This project, funded by the Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence, is concerned with the 'Beyond GDP' measurement agenda and sits within one of the Bennett Institute's main research themes. It will align with the wider research programme of The Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence.

Applications from candidates with backgrounds in economics and related disciplines, with relevant experience in quantitative research methods and knowledge of the relevant literature on valuation, are invited.

    The role

These posts will be located in the Bennett Institute for Public Policy, a major, University-wide interdisciplinary institute housed in the Department of Politics and International Studies and supported by the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences. It is led by its inaugural Director Professor Michael Kenny and Professor Diane Coyle, the Bennett Professor of Public Policy.

The Research Associate will work on the conceptual development and estimation of shadow prices, and related research questions, delivering both academic outputs and policy-relevant outputs and engagement, overseen by Professor Diane Coyle and working alongside other Bennett Institute staff. They will also liaise with other members of Economic Statistics Centre of Excellence.

Candidates for the post of Research Associate should normally have a PhD (submitted or nearly submitted at the time of application) in a relevant field and with experience of the methods required for this project. They should provide evidence of potential for research and publication at the highest level, and a good understanding of the policy process.
