    We are looking for a Clinical Legal Education and Pro Bono Intern.

    This post is offered on a part-time basis for 16 hours per week, over a period of 7 months. Your weekly hours can be worked flexibly to fit around study. Your main working location will be in our office in Old College, with the option of some time working from home, with agreement of your line manager.

    The Opportunity

    Edinburgh University’s Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC) has been delivering pro bono legal services to the public since 2007. In 2019, the Clinical Legal Education and Pro Bono Team was created to enhance and extend the University of Edinburgh, School of Law’s pro bono and clinical legal education portfolio.

    We are looking for a Student Intern to join the Professional Services team in the School of Law. You will be responsible for work within Edinburgh University’s Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC). This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for a position to work around their degree and to gain experience dealing with a range of stakeholders, and with the general public.

    You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills and sound Microsoft IT skills. Working closely with the Clinical Legal Education and Pro Bono Administrator you will be organising client appointments, communicating with solicitors and advocates, dealing with on the night FLAC issues, and keeping files/letters up to date.

    As an intern position, you will have the benefit of receiving practical experience working directly with clients and solicitors; the opportunity to participate in networking events and meetings; and there is a flexible schedule for students to work around their degree.
