The University of Portsmouth Social Media team is hiring! We’re looking for a dedicated social content creator to help us share our story as an ambitious modern University.
This is an entry level role open to recent University of Portsmouth graduates (2021 & 2022 only). You don’t need to have experience running social channels for a complex, international organisation - we’ll teach you that over the 18 month contract. What we need from you is a demonstrable passion for multimedia storytelling and our university community.
The Social Media team sits within the Brand & Corporate Communication team as part of a large, integrated Marketing & Communication department. With significant investment and the sign off on a new strategy and campaign creatives, this is an exciting time to join the team and take ownership of the content across our 6 priority channels - TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. You will also be supporting the Sentiment & Digital Engagement Coordinator to engage with our community, mentor our network of Student Ambassadors and explore new community platforms such as Discord.
Though your main focus will be bringing the student experience to life and championing the student voice, you will also get the chance to work on exciting campaigns that promote our research and educational brand partnerships - from the award-winning Revolution Plastics and Mission Space to working with Portsmouth FC to increase participation in higher education throughout the city.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have social content creation experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly organised in order to deliver quality work to tight schedules and show evidence of being a creative problem solver.
As part of your application, please add a short paragraph on what you liked most about studying at Portsmouth (100 words maximum) and share a link to your portfolio (or relevant content you have produced). The content examples can be from your degree, placement, volunteer or paid work, or your own creator social channels.
For detailed information about the vacancy, please download the Job Description and Personal Specification. If you would like to discuss any aspects of the role, please contact Lauren Ward, Social Media Manager, for an informal chat: lauren.ward@port.ac.uk
The University of Portsmouth believes this role is not eligible for sponsorship with UKVI under the Skilled Worker Route visa. You will need to confirm details of an alternative visa to work in the UK when applying for this role.
Anonymous shortlisting will be carried out for this role as part of our commitment to equality and diversity, ensuring a fair and consistent approach to recruitment. Personal details will not be disclosed to the shortlisting panel. If you’ve been asked to upload further documents, they should not contain identifying information.
We kindly ask that candidates do not send CVs or cover letters as these will not be considered.
