The Music Centre seeks a Graduate Trainee from summer 2023 for 12 months. This post is for a fixed term period as it is intended to provide training and personal development opportunities to recent graduates of the University to help them realise their ambition of pursuing a career in arts administration.

The Graduate Trainee’s main responsibility will be to facilitate, administrate and develop a range of events and projects in close collaboration with the Head of Programming, including St Andrews and Fife Community Orchestra, St Andrews Chamber Orchestra, St Andrews Youth Orchestra, St Andrews Voices, a year-round student engagement programme including masterclasses, workshops and a weekend for scholarship holders at the Burn country house in January.

This is an opportunity intended for recent graduates of the University of St Andrews. Applications will be considered from anyone who has completed an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at the University in 2021-2023. If you have any queries about your eligibility for this post, you are welcome to contact the Head of Programming, Chris Bragg – email cjb30@st-andrews.ac.uk.

Applications are particularly welcome from women, people from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community, and other protected characteristics who are under-represented in professional posts at the University.

Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of the St Andrews experience. We strive to create a fair and inclusive culture demonstrated through our commitment to diversity awards (Athena Swan, Carer Positive, LGBT Charter, Race Charters and Stonewall). We celebrate diversity by promoting profiles of BAME, LGBTIQ+ staff and supporting networks including the Staff BAME Network; Staff with Disabilities Network; Staff LGBTIQ+ Network; and the Staff Parents & Carers Network.

In accordance with the new immigration rules, it is with regret that this role does not meet the current suitability requirements set by the UKVI to enable sponsorship of migrant workers. The University encourages all interested candidates to apply regardless of nationality and all applications received are assessed against the essential and desirable criteria listed in the further particulars. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate their right to work in the UK prior to commencing employment and where required, obtain the right to work in the UK without relying on University sponsorship.

Interviews will be held on 27 June 2023.
