The role
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant (RA) role in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering to work as part of a experienced research team on the "Lightweight character level embeddings" project funded by eBay Inc. This is a part time position.
This role requires the RA to conduct experiments on e-commerce data from an industry partner on the project. The project entails deploying efficient embedding models in a dual encoder framework specific to the e-commerce domain.
The RA will undertake a variety of research activities within the field of natural language processing and designing, developing, and validating neural network architectures to enhance query-title retrieval and ranking efficiency. The role also requires using initiative and creativity to identify and develop new research methods, thereby expanding the research portfolio.
About you
Applicants should have a Master's degree (gained or near completion) or equivalent professional experience in NLP or computer science. Applicants will need to have a good understanding of Natural Language Processing pipeline, Machine/Deep Learning, Python and the Pytorch framework.
