About the role

In your role as Analyst you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to spend 2 years rotating across the four PMG investment teams (Credit, Direct Private Equity, Private Equity Funds and Property) as a dedicated Analyst for 6 months in each team.

This will provide the individual with a strong foundation and broad understanding of all aspects of private markets investing, strategy and asset management.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the Private Markets you will be responsible for:

The Direct Equity Team targets direct investments across a range of investment strategies including Core Infrastructure, Core+ Infrastructure, Renewables and Sustainable Growth. Investments range from majority control positions (e.g.: Moto & Peco Pallets) to joint control investments (e.g.: Bruc Energy and Westerleigh) to large consortia positions (e.g.: Heathrow).

The Private Equity Funds team focuses on investing with, and alongside, Private Equity GPs globally by investing in funds as an LP and as a co-investor. Fund strategies range from traditional buy out funds to growth orientated strategies. Examples of existing GP partnerships include CVC, TPG, Blackstone and EQT.

Duties overview

  • Investment due diligence (quantitative modelling and qualitative analysis of investment opportunities including preparation and review of commercial and financial due diligence and valuation and returns analysis);
  • Contributing to origination activities with sector and target research and analysis;
  • Co-authoring of Investment Committee papers and, subsequently, contributing to presenting these materials at committee stage;
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders including tax, investment legal, operational due diligence and compliance;
  • Coordination of external advisors including investment banks, General Partners (GPs), external counsel and other advisers; and
  • Liaison with potential and existing investee companies

About you

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Post-graduation experience with a background in or serving financial services, ideally in an investment or advisory context (investment management, investment banking, corporate finance, accounting, ratings agency, law or consulting)
  • Prior exposure to infrastructure and/or private equity considered advantageous but not a prerequisite for the role
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical and numerical skills that can be applied to company valuation and financial analysis.
  • Strong cashflow modelling skills (e.g.: LBO and/or DCF modelling) considered a plus although training will be provided
