About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic content writer and researcher to lead the initial phase of our projects. You’ll have great listening skills and the ability to effectively interpret customer needs. You’ll work with a wider team and be able to script and produce well-structured learning materials for diverse audiences. Content could include short microlearning videos, eLearning courses, games or virtual reality experiences.
This role will involve liaising with project stakeholders, researching and writing new content, reviewing draft content and editing/revising drafts produced by subject matter experts. The content writer will also proofread and check the final product.
We are looking for an organised, excellent communicator who can effectively interpret customer needs and communicate these clearly in writing and verbally with the wider team.
The topics, learning objectives and target learner will vary depending on the project. Being adaptable and able to quickly grasp unfamiliar or complicated concepts is key. You will be expected to establish a functional relationship with the subject matter expert and conduct independent research to achieve this. The ideal candidate will be effective at managing their own workload and confidently share advice and suggestions with the wider team.
You will work closely with the software development team, gaining a working understanding of ‘what’s technically possible’ and become increasingly involved in development as you progress in your role.
Essential Skills
- Educated to Degree Level in Creative Writing, UX, Web Design or similar.
- Experience creating design documents, storyboards, assessment questions and narrative scripts.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Experience working with a range of disciplines including SMEs, lecturers and software developers.
- The ability to quickly understand complex or unfamiliar concepts and convey these concepts in clear and effective learning materials.
- A wider understanding of the development process and technical capabilities of software developers.
Desirable Skills
- Fundamental understanding in the various learning methodologies including SAM and ADDIE.
- Have a knack for narrative driven storytelling and writing content in a compelling way.
- Experience administering a learning management system platform such as Talent LMS.
