We provide a wide range of reporting, compliance and energy management services using our proprietary software Carbon DesktopTM, in conjunction with an experienced consultancy team and latest analytics.
About this role
As Junior Consultant you support a range of consultancy projects, gaining experience with some of the UK’s leading businesses from investment houses to manufacturers, with a focus on the real estate sector. You contribute technical excellence and data insights to projects and business development activities; and support the delivery of complex solutions for our clients.
This is a great opportunity to learn consultancy skills while delivering cutting-edge projects that will stretch and hone your technical abilities. This role requires you to work with industry leaders and play an important role in shaping and delivering their vision through providing innovative solutions. Your focus is on the delivery of sustainability reporting which drives corporate transparency and boosts sustainability performance for our clients. You work accurately within a number of highly technical reporting frameworks.
By engaging with a wide range of key stakeholders on a day-to-day basis, you also play a key role in managing sustainability risks and realising opportunities across corporate operations, supply chains and global investment portfolios.
Responsibilities
Project Management
You deliver project inputs to time, quality and budget requirements. You support global data management and environmental reporting projects to deliver our clients’ sustainability objectives and are a pro-active and confident agent of change to help ensure they continue to be leaders in ESG. As you grow in the role and with training, you take responsibility for your own project work streams and small-scale consulting projects.
Technical input
You provide analysis on the environmental performance of buildings including data collection, cleansing, analysis and interpretation using industry-standard accounting frameworks. Your learning curve is boosted by expert supervision and team support.
Business development & proposal writing
You assist in proposal creation through the collation of required information and provide support to the team towards achieving sales targets.
Client management
You maintain strong relationships with existing clients through professional interactions. Performance targets: You take responsibility for meeting or exceeding targeted levels of personal performance and productivity and for highlighting capacity levels and availability. You manage your own time effectively.
Operational
You provide timely responses to operational needs including invoicing, reviews, project management information, time-sheeting, health & safety, etc.
Environmental
You contribute to Verco’s sustainability targets and internal CSR team objectives when required.
What you bring to us
Here are the key things you need to be able to demonstrate, plus some others that are great to have but not essential.
Education, qualifications & training
Essential: Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, mathematics, geography, environmental science, economics or relevant subject with a minimum 2:1 classification.
Desirable: Masters or other relevant post-graduate qualification (clean energy/sustainability).
Employment experience
Essential: Some experience of supporting/advising clients on technical issues associated with energy efficiency or sustainability.
Desirable: Experience of data management and/or environmental reporting for buildings or property portfolios.
Knowledge & understanding
Essential: Knowledge of wider sustainability issues & energy/carbon management including emission sources across the economy, energy use in buildings and industry.
Desirable: Policy understanding of key UK, EU and international energy & climate change policies & frameworks (GHG Protocol) and/or GRESB, CDP, NABERS, REEB.
Skills / competencies
Essential: High level of competence in the use of IT, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Strong communicator in both verbal and written formats. Proactive and analytical approach. Ability to work independently and creatively on challenging problems.
Desirable: Working knowledge of MS Power BI or a background in data science. Familiarity with the use of financial frameworks and models.
Other requirements & attributes
Essential: Able to present a professional appearance. A passion for sustainability.
Desirable: Willingness to travel nationally and internationally. Clean UK driving licence.
