    The role

    We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual who is interested in working for a market leader, selling into the scientific equipment industry. The customer base is biased toward blue chip companies, research and academia.

    In your role, you will work under the Senior Brand Manager, developing product knowledge and process understanding whilst supporting the field sales team. The candidate will play an essential part in ensuring first class customers service and response whilst gaining skills to develop further within the business.

    The role is primarily and initially office based and will require the applicant to be located close to the office. There is some flexibility around this, once the candidate has settled into their role a hybrid working model would be considered.

    The position has a well considered progression plan to move from internal sales into external territory sales, the timing of which would be dependent on the candidate’s aptitude to learn and take on the work. Applicants should consider that with this progression there would be a requirement for domestic travel and infrequent overseas travel, this would come with increased salary and perks, such as a company car.

    Primary responsibilities

    • Manage and grow relationships with customers/distributors to achieve all goals set forth for those accounts, keeping customer service the priority.
    • Manage and direct enquires into the business through correct channels.
    • Act as the point of contact and handle customers’ individual needs.
    • Managing enquiries accurately through the CRM system from opportunity to order.
    • Generating quotes in the CRM system, fed from both the Senior Brand Manager and the Webpage.
    • Develop a good technical knowledge of products to support customer queries via phone, e-mail and in person.
    • Running samples in the lab both with and without customers in attendance.
    • When required, conduct customer demonstrations / trials at customer sites.
    • Explain and feedback the results of trials to customers with support from the Senior Business Manager.
    • Support cross selling activities across the other group companies with their peers.
    • Good technical knowledge of products to support customer queries via phone, e-mail and in person.

    Key skills and qualifications

    • Degree qualified in a scientific/technical discipline (desirable).
    • Experience in selling scientific equipment or some other customer facing role B2B or B2C (preferred)
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
    • Highly motivated with the ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision, prioritise workload and the skills to be a good team player.
    • Problem solving skills – with the ability to resolve customer issues or seek appropriate internal resources to facilitate resolution.
    • Strong business acumen with a technical background.
    • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience in CRM/ERP software
    • Long term, flexibility with regards to travelling within the UK and abroad (occasional site visits to manufacturing unit in Germany).
    • Hold a full clean driving license and hold a valid passport for occasional international travel.

    • Core hours are 37.50 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 8.00 – 4.45 pm, Friday 8.00 - 12.30 pm – recognising the business needs, may require flexibility to meet customer needs.
