Vertex is looking for enthusiastic, curious and dedicated students to join our International Patient Engagement (IPE) team for a one-year industrial placement. This based position is located at our International HQ based at Paddington, London. Applicants should be undertaking a relevant degree qualification and ideally have a strong interest in patient engagement in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.
Role Description
The IPE team is responsible for bringing the patients’ perspective into Vertex’s work by establishing meaningful collaborations with patient communities at in-country and above-country level. IPE works across the whole lifecycle of therapies and medicines developed by Vertex. By joining IPE, you will learn how Vertex engages externally and how such engagement shapes decisions across the whole lifecycle of Vertex’s medicines and therapies, from early research to post-marketing.
During Industrial Placements you will get the opportunity to learn about our industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Students can expect to be challenged by their work, connect with other students, and feel valued by the Vertex community.
Person Specification
- Currently undertaking studies in a scientific or business-related discipline
- Strong interest and fundamental understanding of what Patient Engagement delivers in the biotech industry
- Must be independently motivated and a strong team player
- Demonstrates problem solving skills
- Good written, communication, project management and presentation skills
- Evidence of ability to meet deadlines
