    Vertex is looking for enthusiastic, curious and dedicated students to join our Medical Affairs team for a one-year industrial placement. This based position is located at our International HQ based at Paddington, London. Applicants should be undertaking a relevant degree qualification and ideally have a strong interest in medical community engagement in the Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry.

    Role Description

    The Medical Affairs industrial placement will be part of the international medical education team contributing to the planning and execution of medical education projects. The post-holder will support new and existing programmes within the assigned therapeutic area(s) and work closely with the medical education team to apply project management best practices in the development, initiation, planning, execution, maintenance, and closing of projects as well as other departmental initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Participates in the development and execution of high-quality medical education projects. Communicates project status through preparation of monthly dashboards and other reporting materials, collecting information and ensuring accuracy of reports.
    • Builds and manages collaborative relationships with internal cross functional teams and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and appropriate communications in a professional and responsible manner as per business needs
    • Supports ongoing management of external agencies to ensure their timely delivery of work, whilst safe-guarding quality and compliance with relevant local/regional regulations
    • Monitors project budget/spending associated with planning and process aspects of Vertex sponsored medical education events, advisory boards, medical reporting, regional internal medical meetings, management of review and approval of medical materials in Vertex systems

    During Industrial Placements you will get the opportunity to learn about our industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry.     Person Specification

    • Currently undertaking studies in a life science or related degree discipline
    • Strong interest and fundamental understanding of what Medical Affairs delivers in the biotech industry
    • Must be independently motivated and a strong team player
    • Demonstrates problem solving skills
    • Good written, communication, project management and presentation skills
    • Evidence of ability to meet deadlines
