    Get practice ready with Vets for Pets and Companion Care. Bishopston Vets for Pets is looking for a new or recently graduated vet to join their team and our award-winning graduate scheme.

    We are based very near the city centre, in a lovely upbeat vibrant area with a united community. There is always something happening on Gloucester Road! Our great location means we benefit from a good variety of cases and a wonderful loyal client base.

    About the role

    Our well-equipped surgery is purpose built to industry leading standards and you’ll get use of our large theatre, very good Ultrasound machine, Digital X-ray, Dental X-ray and our in-house Idexx lab machines.

    As a practice we also benefit from having a separate kennel and cattery and due to the size of the practice these as nicely spread out allowing first class care for all our clients. We are proud to be a Silver accredited cat friendly practice and would love our next colleague to have the same enthusiasm and care for them as we do.

    You’ll be joining an experienced team including 3 part time Vets, 4 RVN’s, 5 Client Care Advisors, and 1 Client Care Manager. This includes our Partners, Rosie Watt Practice manager/RVN and Caroline Luke Vet. Rosie has been nursing for 21 years and qualified for 13 years.

    She joined the practice at opening in 2013 and became a Partner in 2017 and moved to Practice Manager 4 years ago. Whilst Caroline has been a qualified Vet for 13 years after studying at Bristol University. She started with the practice in 2014 and also became Partner in 2017 alongside Rosie.

    The role is 36.38 hours per week, with a starting salary of £31,832 per annum. There is also a weekend rota of 1 in 4 Saturday mornings.

    Rota

    The successful graduate will be working the below hours on a rota basis:

    • Monday - 8.30-7pm - operating am, consulting pm (30min lunch)
    • Tuesday - 8.30am-2.30pm - operating only
    • Thursday - 8.30-7pm - consults only (30 min lunch)
    • Friday - 8.30-7pm - consults only (30 min lunch)
    • 1 in 4 Saturday mornings - 9am-12pm sole charge but supported by Caroline until confident on own (paid at time and a half)

    Operating will be fully supported by Caroline on both mornings until you have built confidence in this area, no time restriction on when that might be.

You won’t be in sole charge of cases until you’re ready.
