VICE x Team
You will be the voice of VICE on some of our key platforms, the primary developer of audiences across social media and a lead producer of social first content. You will collaborate closely with editorial, video teams and the rest of VICE to optimise content on an ongoing basis, to ensure that Key Results targets are being achieved across social and to develop innovative, social first formats which grow a dedicated, loyal audience in the UK. You will report directly into the Editor in Chief.
Role x You
Some of this role’s core responsibilities include:
- Operating VICE UK accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Growing our loyal audiences on these platforms
- Generating engagement for written VICE UK content on socials
- Evolving and executing VICE UK’s social media strategy
- Creating social-only content and original formats in collaboration with the editorial, design and TikTok teams, including writing news posts and commissioning original photography and video
- Working alongside the wider VICE UK team to leverage their work for social use
- Building and maintaining relationships with news aggregators
- Delivering monthly reports and track VICE UK content performance for internal and region-wide teams
- Operating the global VICE account on Facebook in collaboration with the US socials team
In the short term… You will get to grips with working with our editorial and social teams.
After 6 months in this role… You will oversee the VICE UK social publishing strategy on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
And after a year... You will have shown impressive audience growth across social platforms and developed successful, scalable, social only content formats.
Qualifications
You have these:
- A passion for social media and the drive to create top-class social content
- Previous experience in journalism, social media or the newsroom
- Strong familiarity with the VICE Network and brand voice
- Passionate interest in culture, lifestyle and key VICE coverage areas
- Strong visual eye with solid Photoshop experience
- Excellent writing and organisational skills
- Strong knowledge of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and experience creating visually-driven social media content
- Good experience using Excel and Google Sheets
- Strong analytical skills and experience putting together comprehensive performance reports
- Familiarity with Chartbeat, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, YouTube Analytics and reporting data from these platforms
We’d love if you also had these:
- Experience running your own Instagram channel
- Strong art direction skills
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; newsroom experience a huge plus
- Newsletter writing experience
- Experience editing and A/B testing headlines to maximize click through and engagement on all stories and provide feedback to editorial team
- Experience pitching stories to editorial staff based on social performance
