    Victrex is seeking a passionate and talented Scientist to join our dynamic team. This is your chance to be at the forefront of cutting-edge polymer science and make a significant impact on our innovative projects.

    Role purpose

    As a Scientist at Victrex, you will design, plan, deliver, and evaluate experimental projects that support our mission to develop new polymer applications, optimise existing products, and enhance our processes. Your work will be pivotal in driving our market, platform, and operational technical objectives forward.

    Key responsibilities

    • Innovative Project Design: Lead the design, planning, and execution of experimental chemistry projects, including plant trials for new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Utilise a range of in-house and external analytical services to evaluate material properties, interpret results, and make strategic recommendations for future work.
    • Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including suppliers and other departments, to define and deliver impactful projects. Occasionally supervise technicians, placement students, or apprentices.
    • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all laboratory procedures promote safe working practices in line with internal and external regulations. Take responsibility for SHE within laboratories and major technical equipment.

    Qualifications and skills

    • Educational Background: Degree or higher in chemistry, material science, or a relevant scientific discipline. Highly experienced laboratory staff with broad competence in the sector are also encouraged to apply.
    • Analytical Expertise: Strong analytical, communication, and team collaboration skills. Proficiency in statistical and data management tools.
    • Intellectual Property: Understanding of intellectual property recognition and exemplification.
