The student/graduate will learn how Product Management operates across a matrix organisation, and be exposed to all functions of the business. You will have exposure to business systems such as Oracle, Agile, Confluence and Salesforce. Training will be provided as necessary.
Overall purpose of the job
This is a newly created role, giving someone an opportunity to learn the trade of a Product Manager.
You will work closely with the Automated Stores Product Manager and colleagues in customer facing roles to capture, understand, describe and respond to customer requirements.
The Associate Product Manager will be an information gatherer and intelligence specialist who assists in the strategic direction of the product portfolio.
You will be responsible for defining and sustaining differentiation amongst competing products. You will oversee market research, monitor competitive activity, identify customer needs, help define product requirements and identify and evaluate marketing opportunities with product line objectives.
The Associate Product Manager will be the voice of the customer within the organisation, understanding customer requirements and helping drive the development of existing and future products.
Key responsibilities
- Follow Azenta Product Development and Introduction (PDI) model for developing and improving products
- Producing business cases for product opportunities as a basis for investment
- Facilitate generation and management of sales tools
- Produce and drive Product Marketing plans for new product releases
- Assist in managing the roll-out of new and updated functionality to the business, including producing documentation to support releases
- Develop product positioning statements for target market segments
- Define and sustain differentiation amongst competing products
- Maintain a market intelligence database for the product portfolio
- Develop and maintain key metrics to measure success in all responsible areas
- Organise and Facilitate VoC (Voice of the Customer) sessions
- Produce and drive Product Marketing plans for new product releases
Communications
This is a varied role in a fast paced, matrix organisation, where every day will be different. The role involves working cross functionally with sales, marketing, business development, R&D, service and operations.
Skills and aptitude profile
- Scientific, Engineering or Marketing degree
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel)
- Willingness and ability to learn new tools
- Ability to understand detailed requirements and document
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Confidence to ask searching questions
- Ability to manage both, complex personal tasks and teamwork
