    Our IT team here at VWFS are a customer focussed department that works as part of a global IT Team.

    We currently have two placement opportunities within this sector of the business.

    Role Description

    IT Undergraduate

    You will be with our IT Helpdesk that is part of our Support and Infrastructure team. The IT Helpdesk is the single point of contact to support the business and a network of 800+ retailers with any IT related issues. Although the majority of the role is focused on helpdesk support, we’ll also give you the opportunity to gain exposure to the wider IT team which will round your understanding of the department.

    You will provide first line support to all users, working to resolve all issues quickly and efficiently, and escalating to the second line of support when necessary. You will gain an understanding of the different methodologies, tools and processes used in IT and work with users to determine their requirements to provide solutions.

    This gives you the opportunity to build great relationships and knowledge across the IT department and wider business.

    IT Project Support Undergraduate

    We have many exciting projects and programmes within IT, all focused on various systems, initiatives and processes. Our Corporate Portfolio Management team is at the core of their success. Within this role, you’ll be involved in supporting the team with the delivery of management information relating to these and learn lots about project planning and implementation in the process.

    This will enable you to provide effective analysis and management information on the performance of projects and understand the impacts on the wider reporting that you will contribute to.

    You will have the opportunity to be involved in Portfolio lessons learned to provide insights and trend information and have the confidence to challenge with alternative solutions as appropriate.

    You will provide key day-to-day support and general coordination and administration support to the team where required, to include arranging meetings and answering queries sent to the team mailbox. You’ll build some great relationships in your team, the wider IT and business.

    Who You Are

    • You will be enrolled at a University which offers a 1 year industrial placement
    • Studying towards an IT related degree and have a proven record of academic success
    • You are able to demonstrate knowledge of IT disciplines
    • You have excellent organisation skills with the ability to deal with a variety of tasks
    • You are able to take ownership of problems and issues to proactively resolve
    • You are able to research and pull information together to support projects and other initiatives
    • You will be able to communicate clearly with the business both verbally and in writing
    • MS Office proficiency, especially Excel and Word

    What to expect from the assessment process

    Once you have hit the apply button, you will be asked to complete multiple-choice questions to supplement your application. We’ll be in touch shortly after receiving your application to advise if you have been successful to complete an online video interview for you to tell us more about yourself.

    After completing your video interview, if successful, your final step in the journey will be for you to attend a virtual assessment centre, where there will be a Competency Based Interview, a Presentation and a Group Exercise. We will provide you with appropriate support and guidance prior to attending. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of our managers as well as our current Undergraduates. This process is designed to help both of us to work out if a placement here is the best next step for you.
