Vacation Scheme 2021
The whole idea is that you get as much useful experience as possible. You’ll sit with a senior associate or partner in one of our commercial departments for one week.
You will also be assigned a trainee buddy who will support you during the week, show you around etc. There are presentations, social events and some case studies also for you to take part in. It’s a fairly intensive week, so get some sleep before you come in!
How to apply
We have one application form for both vacation placements and/or training contracts.
When to apply
If you’re a law undergraduate apply before 31 December in your second year or if you’re a non-law undergraduate before 31 December in your final year.
What happens then?
We normally get around 500 applications for our 48 one-week vacation placements. After the deadline we choose from the application forms who should attend our half day assessment centre. These usually take place in February/March. If you pass the assessment and are offered a place on the scheme you will need to be available in April and June that year. We will write to you as soon as possible after the assessments to let you know if you have received a place. We will ask you for your preferred date and department (if you have one).
Vacation Placement Dates 2021
Our vacation placement is one week in length and is held in April and June, our exact dates will be published early 2021.
Here are some words from other undergrads who have also taken part:
“The work was interesting and despite not having yet studied commercial law the work provided useful knowledge. It allowed me to put my legal studies into a practical context and confirmed my interest in commercial law.”
“I have found the placement fun, whilst also finding it stimulating. Overall, the placement has provided me with an insight into Walker Morris, which is what I hoped to obtain from my placement.”
“Everyone was very welcoming. I was given a lot of opportunities that I wasn’t expecting. Being able to meet clients was fantastic. Walker Morris came across as a very good place to work and I was made to feel part of the team.”
“The placement has been very well organised and has had a good balance of varied organised events and time spent in the department.”
