To support our direction of travel and grow your own strategy, a new and exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint Trainee Finance Business partner / Accountant within the Finance Business Partner team.
About the role
Finance is a highly skilled profession, with staff working at many different levels.
Our aim is to support individuals towards qualifying as a Chartered Accountant as part of our new formed trainee accountant programme, whilst providing an opportunity to gain Finance Business Partnering skills required in support of this and provide you with a fantastic opportunity to develop a career as a Trainee Finance Business Partner/Accountant.
You will also have the opportunity to get involve and support a range of projects to gain a variety of skills, experience and knowledge. In addition, there will be an opportunity to develop and expand your IT skills through the use of various applications.
The post is for a fixed term of 3 years which would be split between working in the office and attending a training provider to undertake training towards becoming a fully qualified Chartered Public Finance (CIPFA) Accountant. In addition, costs relating to the provision of the training will be met by Walsall Council in line with the Learning and Development Policy.
Who you are
We are looking for motivated individuals willing to undertake a CIPFA Level 7 Professional Accountancy Qualification and progress at an appropriate rate through the course whilst developing Finance Business Partner skills.
You will have achieved a relevant degree which must be in a finance related subject (minimum 2.2) or completed full AAT qualification.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
It is likely that interviews will be conducted face to face within the Civic Centre, and interviews will consist of a short test followed by an interview. Interviews are likely to be held week commencing 4 th September 2023.
