We have a fantastic opportunity for a Undergraduate or Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our South West Team, based on site or at our Avonmouth office. The role will provide an opportunity to work with and learn from experienced professionals on exciting civil engineering projects.

    About the role

    As a Graduate Quantity Surveyor you will either have recently finished your commercial degree of have worked in the construction industry, preferably on civil engineering projects. Reporting directly to the Commercial Lead on a particular project, you will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of civil engineering projects.

    Key responsibilities for this role will include

    • Assisting with the measurement of applications for payment
    • Assisting with the preparation of interim applications and final accounts
    • Recording, monitoring and helping to produce financial reports
    • Work closely with engineers, site managers and clients
    • Help to manage subcontract procurement, payments and site records

    Qualifications and capabilities

    We are looking for the following attributes in a candidate:

    • A passion for civil engineering and eager to work within a culture which focuses on safety, problem solving, maintaining client relationships and a drive to get things done
    • Highly organised with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Good IT skills specifically on spreadsheets, databases and the ability to adapt to bespoke software packages
    • An innate commercial acumen including good numeracy and analytical abilities plus an enjoyment of negotiation
    • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying, although other equivalent qualifications may be accepted (HNC/HND) including those currently studying for a degree on a part time basis.
