    Your new role

    Primary responsibilities included in these roles are:

    Available opportunities

    World Sports (TV)

    World Sport is CNN International's flagship sports show that runs multiple times a day, seven days a week. Our show focuses on sports news, big-name interviews and exploring themes like racism, gender inequality and athlete activism as we seek to go beyond the headlines. The key roles for our intern are to help identify and pitch interesting stories, book guests, help research for interviews and segments, and produce cross-platform content. The ideal candidate should have a broad knowledge on sports news, an ability to deliver to deadlines, be a strong communicator and somebody who thrives collaborating in a team environment.

    Digital Sports (Online content only)

    This intern will be assigned to the digital sport team, and will research and write news stories. As the internship progresses, there will be opportunities to pitch and write distinctive features.

    Working for CNN London’s digital sport team across all CNN platforms the intern will assist producers and supervisors in researching and writing news stories and pitching and pulling together more distinctive features.

    We’re looking for enthusiastic and proactive candidates with an interest in both news and features content, with a mixture of technical and editorial skills. They need to demonstrate both an ability to work under the pressure of news deadlines, along with the thoughtfulness and creativity required for longer features projects.

    This intern will have an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills over the course of the program.

    Digital Sport Video

    Working for CNN London’s digital sport video team across all CNN platforms; the digital sport video intern will assist producers and supervisors across the full gamut of video production, from the research and pitching stage right through to post production and everything in between.

    The Sport video unit is small but responsible for all sport output in the organization, focusing on daily turn news, feature and sponsorship content, as well as longer-form video. This internship position will have an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills over the course of the program. The intern may assist with the following: research, pitching and attending brainstorms, assisting producers, editors and shooters at base and in the field, explore sound design and editing in Adobe Premiere. A basic to moderate level of editing experience is essential for this role. After Effects and Photoshop knowledge is preferable, but not necessary.

    Qualifications & experience

    • Detail-orientated.
    • Strong writing and research skills.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
    • Confidence to pitch story ideas and potential guests to show producers.

    The internship

    • Salary: £28,000 p/a (pro rata)
    • Contract Length: 6 months   
    • Start Date: 4th March 2024 
    • You will gain hands-on experience working on business-critical projects.  
    • You will have access to personal and professional development courses, executive speakers’ series, special screenings and more.  
    • You will be part of our Early Talent network of over 100 interns & apprentices, meaning you will have an important support network of other students, graduates and apprentices and plenty of opportunities to socialise! 

    Next steps

    • Stage 1: Submit your CV by Sunday 17th December (you will not be able to apply after this date). 
    • Stage 2: For eligible candidates, you will be invited to complete a written questionnaire in HireVue. The deadline for this is Monday 1st January.
    • Stage 3: Final Stage Interviews will take place in January & February.
