A little bit about our team

Our London based legal teams provide support to the Warner Music business. Based in Warner’s UK offices in Kensington, London the 3 legal teams (Recorded Music, Music Publishing and International) work closely with other departments within the UK and with Warner Music Group affiliates around the world to help deliver on our ambitious goals.

The role

Warner Music is looking for a trainee solicitor to join the International team, however the role will involve working in both our International business and UK business legal teams.  Warner is offering a two year training contract (subject to any prior qualifying experience).

Work in our International legal team will see you get involved in a wide variety of issues relating to our business domestically and internationally, including assisting with corporate matters and commercial work supporting  the artist services, supply chain, facilities, technology and HR teams.

Work in the UK business legal team will focus more on artist, producer, and related contracts, licensing and marketing and promotion matters relating to the UK recorded music business.

Work will include:

  • Reviewing and drafting services agreements
  • Reviewing and drafting purchasing agreements
  • Reviewing and drafting flat fee and royalty based artist agreement
  • Reviewing and drafting artist option exercise and amending letters
  • Reviewing and drafting agreements to acquire rights in film, photo and artwork assets
  • Reviewing and drafting waiver agreements for Warner exclusive artists
  • Working on licensing transactions
  • Assisting with corporate matters such as board minutes
  • Assisting with compliance related activities
  • Assisting with litigation
  • Preparing terms and conditions for competitions or promotions
  • Research on legal topics
  • Research rights profile of existing Warner recordings
  • Management of contract trackers and contractual commitment summaries
  • Involvement in mergers and acquisitions

About you

  • Hold a law degree or graduate diploma in law and have completed the legal practice course
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work comfortably in a fast paced environment
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail
